The Alliance Fund was created in 1999 by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona in partnership with the National Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer (LGBTQ+) Alliance Fund connects donors with projects that benefit the LGBTQ community in Southern Arizona, through annual competitive grant rounds.
Karin Uhlich moved to Tucson in 1993 to serve as the CEO of the Primavera Foundation, a nonprofit organization addressing poverty and homelessness. With others, she worked 20 years ago to start the Alliance Fund. She served on the Tucson City Council from 2005-2017 and as Vice-Mayor of Tucson for two years. Currently, Karin serves people on Medicaid as the Senior Director of the System of Care for Arizona Complete Health.
