Workshop Facilitator – Honoring A Life, Advance Medical Planning Program

Description: “Honoring a Life” workshops, “Meet and Complete” groups, and one-on-one coaching sessions provide LGBTQI+ older adults an opportunity to learn about the importance of Advance Medical Planning (including medical and mental health powers of attorney, living wills, powers of attorney for disposition of remains, and more).

Facilitator responsibilities include planning, marketing and presenting workshops, becoming familiar with all pertinent legal documents and speaking about Advance Medical Planning to increase awareness in the community.

Interfaith Community Services, in partnership with Senior Pride, provides required, detailed training (approximately 10 hours) for those interested in becoming a facilitator.

Estimated hours per week: Once all training is completed, average time commitment will be 2-3 hours per week.

Support/Discussion Group Facilitator

Job Description: The Facilitator leads a peer support/discussion group twice a month (currently on Zoom, and likely to continue that way). The group currently meets on the first and third Saturday of the month from 1pm – 2:30pm. Topics are varied and are generated by the participants. The Facilitator should be comfortable building trust and promoting respectful, confidential discussion with a focus on listening and sharing. Understanding discrimination against older adults and LGBTQI+ community is important.

Summary duties:

  • Receive list of participants who are interested in joining and set-up Zoom meeting; send Zoom links to participants (you will have access to Senior Pride Zoom account)
  • Be prepared to offer/start a topic if needed
  • Open the group and welcome everyone
  • Facilitate turn taking among participants and make sure that everyone who wants to share has an opportunity to share

Cultural Events Committee Member

Job Description: Members of the Cultural Events Committee are responsible for proposing and organizing programs and workshops on broadly defined cultural topics.

Summary duties:

  • Plan, organize and execute an annual cultural event (usually a film or speaker)
  • Plan, organize and conduct speaker series events throughout the year
  • Plan, organize and conduct the Words of Wisdom poetry reading program
  • Plan and organize cultural workshops

Estimated hours per month: 1 to 10 hours (depending upon interest and project)

Health & Wellbeing Committee Member

Job Description: Members of the Health & Wellbeing Committee are responsible for brainstorming and proposing health and wellbeing topics for speaker series, classes, workshops and other events.

Summary duties:

  • Develop programming for on-going health and wellbeing events
  • Plan, organize and execute health and wellbeing events
  • Reach out to and engage presenters from diverse communities (BIPOC, gender non-conforming, etc.)

Writers for Weekly e-News

Job Description: Our weekly e-news reaches an audience of 950+ individuals and has an average open rate of 27%.  That’s 250+ folks reading our content every week.  Each weekly edition ranges from 3 to 7 spots and we need help preparing them.  This news also shows up on our Facebook and our Website, where it is read by more individuals.

Summary Duties:

  • Determine your area of responsibility (National LGBTQI+ news? Speaker Series updates? Local LGBTQI+ news? Health and Wellbeing?)
  • Receive weekly input on needed content and craft e-news spots by weekly deadline of Wednesday, 9am
  • Contribute in other ways of particular interest to you
  • Prior experience in professional writing, journalism, etc…. is very helpful

Estimated hours per month: 4 to 16 hours per month (1 to 4 hours per week, depending upon your interest…).

Salesforce Database (CRM) Support

Job Description: We are seeking an individual with prior database experience to become trained as an administrator for our Salesforce CRM (Customer Relations Management) Database.

Summary Duties:

  • Become trained in all aspects of Salesforce Database management
  • Prepare various reports upon request
  • Work with Database Manager and staff to update and clean up data regularly

Estimated hours per month: 4 to 16 hours per month (1 to 4 hours per week, depending upon demand…).

On Call Volunteers

Job Description: Certain Senior Pride tasks occur irregularly, such as preparing the mailing of our Senior Forum newsletter (every other month).  Others increase in volume seasonally, such as thank you calls during fundraising campaigns.  If you could be available upon request to help out with such tasks, please let us know!
