Southern Arizona Senior Pride Monthly Potluck

Normally, we meet at Cornerstone Fellowship Hall.

Elder Circles:
The Wisdom Journey for LGBTQI Elders

Elder Circles are facilitated discussion groups that meet once a month on a drop-in basis to discuss important topics and share stories. Each Elder Circle focuses on one of four components: life review, life repair, what is my contribution and mentoring. The facilitator is trained and culturally responsive.

Senior Pride Book Group

We meet monthly to enjoy books and companionship!

The Senior Pride Book Group has decided to select books by LGBTQ authors and the first such choice on February 21 is Everywhere Home by Fenton Johnson, one of the LGBTQ authors to be featured at the Tucson Festival of Books. Everywhere Home is a collection of essays bearing witness to the possibility of progress—especially in terms of gay rights. Johnson, professor of creative writing in the English Department at the University of Arizona, has written several novels and non-fiction books as well as many essays for publications including Harper’s Magazine and the New York Times.

Poz Café Lunch Program

TIHAN (Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network) offers Poz Café, a monthly lunch for people living with HIV. Poz Cafe is an opportunity for you to get out of the house, take a break, meet other positive people, and enjoy great food! On the third Thursday of each month from 11:30am to 1:30pm, volunteers from local faith communities provide a fantastic, delicious and nutritious lunch. This is followed by time to “hang out,” chat, participate in a game or two of bingo, enjoy our raffle of fun and useful gifts, and receive a CarePackage.

People living with HIV and one guest (18 or older) are invited. All attending the café are asked to honor the highest standard of confidentiality. To attend Poz Café, please RSVP by the Monday before the lunch by contacting a Link Specialist volunteer by email or 520-299-6647 (ext. 205). Limited transportation is also available for this event. POZ Café Breakfast Program

TIHAN (Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network) had been offering vouchers to individuals living with HIV/AIDS (who are also registered with TIHAN) for a free breakfast once a month, courtesy of Mother Hubbard’s Cafe. However, Mother Hubbard’s Cafe has closed. TIHAN is currently seeking a new partner to take on this program.

Rainbow Reads: A New Queer Book Chat and Book Club

The Pima County Public Library LGBT Services Committee has launched a new book chat/book club!  Come be a part of this positively queer reading circle! Join us every other odd month for our book chat as we share our favorite LGBTQ books of all kinds with each other. Grab a snack or coffee beverage at Exo Roast Co and gush about your selected book, then add more to your to-read list as others gush about theirs. Want an assigned book instead? Join us on the even months for Rainbow Reads Book Club!

While this is a queer-themed book club/chat, readers across the gender and sexuality spectrum are welcome to attend and engage in fun, respectful dialogue.
