The Death of Vivek Oji

Join us on April 21 to discuss Akwaaeke Emezi’s novel, The Death of Vivek Oji.
A coming of age in Nigeria of a young person with gender fluid/LGBT identity and a cross-multi-national subculture. This is a heart-wrenching story of one family’s struggle to understand a child whose spirit is both gentle and mysterious.
Akwaaeke Emezi (they/them) is the author of the novel Freshwater, honored by numerous awards and rave reviews and translated into twelve languages. A National Book Foundation ‘5 Under 35’ honoree, Emezi was born in Umuahia and raised in Aba, Nigeria.
