A Not-So-Retired Medical Researcher

When COVID first struck, Researchers Sally Dodds and Beth Meyerson quickly recognized unique threats the corona virus holds for our LGBTQI+ community. They sprang into action early in the pandemic to create and administer a survey of COVID risks and impacts for older LGBTQI+ people in Arizona — and now they are ready to share the results directly with you.

Sally is an active and dedicated Senior Pride volunteer who notes that: “Today’s LGBTQ older adults are the people who have steadily built our community over the past decades. The wisdom of Senior Pride’s volunteers is a precious resource for our community.” Sally is a “retired” professor of psychiatry and medicine at UA with significant experience in HIV/AIDS research.

After a lifetime of fighting for their basic human rights, aging LGBTQ people face a whole new series of social and medical challenges. We can now add COVID to that list of hurdles. Meet Sally soon to hear how we can best take care of ourselves, our friends, and our families as the pandemic continues.
